WWDC 2012: Recap

Yes, this is five days after WWDC in San Francisco, but I’m going to recap what exactly happened at the WWDC 2012!

New Macbook Pro with Retina Display:

Yes, Apple has released a brand new Macbook Pro which includes a Retina Display and several different Ivy Bridge processors.

This Macbook Pro is incredibly thin, it includes two Thunderbolt ports, and includes USB 3.0!  Below are the model you may choose from:

Mountain Lion


Apple has also showed off Mountain Lion.  Showed demos of Game Center and introduced Siri Dictation for Mac.  Pretty much just recapped everything in the dev previews.

iOS 6

Apple has announced iOS 6.  They released a beta which i got ahold of from a developer.  Here’s an excerpt from iMore:

iCloud sync with OS X Mountain Lion

  • Messages (with iMessage, pulled from the latest beta), Reminders, Notes
  • Documents in the Cloud (Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Preview, Text Edit, plus developer SDK)

FaceTime

  • Available over cellular
  • Apple ID unified with phone number, enabling FaceTime or iMessage answering on iPad or Mac

Safari

Photo Streams

  • Shared Photo Streams with designated friends, includes comments
  • Photo Stream pictures in Mac screensaver
  • Photo Stream now a separate tab, not another album

Mail

  • VIPs – designated contacts cause notifications, e-mails flagged with stars, separate inbox
